Investment Philosophy and Professional Background
With more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, my career has been defined by a passion for the art of investing and a commitment to helping families navigate complex financial decisions. I spent 15 years as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Country Club Trust Company, where I was responsible for identifying client goals and managing customized investment portfolios through multiple market cycles.
My approach to portfolio management is grounded in the discipline of value investing—an investment philosophy centered on risk management, rational decision-making, independent thinking, and long‑term perspective. This framework is shaped by the philosophies of investors such as Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Howard Marks, Seth Klarman, and Mohnish Pabrai. By maintaining this thoughtful, research‑driven approach and resisting short‑term noise, I strive to help clients stay patient through market cycles, remain confident in their plan, and ultimately achieve better long‑term outcomes.
Over time, I’ve learned that a disciplined investment process is only part of helping clients achieve clarity and confidence in their financial lives. True success starts with understanding each client’s goals, priorities, and values. That deeper perspective—rooted in empathy and a genuine desire to serve—led me to join my long‑time friend Toby Goostree and the team at Goostree Financial Group.
As a Financial Advisor at Goostree Financial Group, I aim to bring institutional‑grade resources and integrated financial planning together with a high level of personal attention and proactive communication.
Education and Community
I hold a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, and banking from the University of Missouri–Columbia and an MBA from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. I am a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Kansas City, where I previously served on the executive board.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two kids, staying active, reading, and watching Chiefs and Royals games. My family and I volunteer with several community organizations, including The Barstow School, Wayside Waifs, and Church of the Resurrection—efforts that reflect our shared belief in giving back and supporting the community that has given so much to us. I also help coach my children’s youth sports teams—an experience that reinforces the values of teamwork, discipline, and patience that I bring to both life and work.
